Jomtien stretches for about 6 km south of central Pattaya. It is more relaxed than Pattaya Beach, with water sports, a seaside promenade and seafood restaurants.
Start on Pratumnak Hill at Wat Phra Yai.
Walk down to the shady north end of Jomtien.
Stroll south along the seafront as the sun sets.
Finish with street food at Jomtien Night Market.
November to April for calm seas; late afternoon to sunset is the nicest time on the promenade.
Songthaews run between Pattaya and Jomtien Beach Road.
Baht buses (blue songthaew pick-ups) loop one way along Beach Road and back along Second Road; wave one down, ride, and press the buzzer to get off. Other songthaews run to Jomtien and Naklua. Grab and Bolt cars and motorbike taxis work across the city, and are the easiest way to reach Pratumnak Hill or places south of town. Scooters can be rented, but you need a licence valid for motorbikes and a helmet.
Use licensed operators for jet skis and photograph rentals before you ride.
